The touch of a grand piano: Responsive Hammer Compact II keyboard mechanism
The Responsive Hammer Compact II (RHCII) keyboard mechanism of the ES520 has been developed to replicate the distinctive touch of an acoustic grand piano. Based on the highly regarded RH keyboard mechanism design, its springless technology and sturdy construction provide consistent up and down movements for a smooth, natural, and highly authentic piano playing experience.
Weight of an acoustic piano action
Just like acoustic pianos use heavier hammers for the bass and lighter hammers for the treble, the RHCII keyboard mechanism also incorporates different hammer weights tailored to each range of play.
These details provide greater stability during fortissimo passages while preserving delicate control during pianissimo, meeting the demands of the most discerning pianists.

The sound of two world-class instruments
Renowned as the "first pianos of Japan," Shigeru Kawai instruments grace the stages of concert halls and musical institutions worldwide, celebrated for their exceptional tonal clarity and dynamic range.
The ES520 reproduces the magnificent sound of the Shigeru Kawai SK-EX concert grand piano. This unparalleled instrument is handcrafted by master artisans in the Shigeru Kawai Piano Research Laboratory in Ryuyo, Japan, and is widely regarded as one of the finest instruments in its category.
Additionally, the ES520 also provides the distinctive sound of the highly acclaimed Kawai EX concert grand piano, which has been chosen by professional pianists at prestigious events like the international Chopin, Tchaikovsky, and Rubinstein piano competitions, among others.
The SK-EX and EX are both faithfully reproduced with a complete 88-key sampling using the advanced Harmonic Imaging™ sound technology, setting a new standard in digital piano tonal quality and allowing musicians to appreciate the contrasting properties of each.

Resonance and sonic clarity that fill the room
The impressive 40W output system of the ES520 utilizes speaker enclosures that produce a rich and expansive sound, capable of competing with much larger console digital pianos. This design results in a compact and portable instrument capable of delighting medium-sized audiences without the need for additional amplification.
Integrated Bluetooth® MIDI and Audio wireless connectivity
In addition to a standard USB-MIDI port for computer connectivity, the ES520 also features integrated MIDI and audio Bluetooth® technologies, allowing the instrument to wirelessly communicate with supported smart devices.
Once the instrument is paired with a phone, tablet, or laptop, ES520 owners can enjoy a wide range of exciting music applications that enhance their learning and playing experience or directly stream the sound of songs and videos through the impressive speaker system of the instrument, without the need for additional cables.
Flexible USB connectivity
The ES520 is equipped with modern USB connectors that not only allow you to connect the instrument to a computer for MIDI use but also to directly load and record data to USB memory devices.
This USB to Device feature allows you to securely store instrument settings, recordings, and memorable pieces from the internal memory on USB drives, or play downloaded standard MIDI files (SMF) from the internet and utilize the instrument's superb Progressive Harmonic Imaging sounds without the need for additional hardware or cables.
